Batman Arkham City was a suprisingly short experience. There’s nothing wrong with that though, it was a worthy sequel to Asylum and then some.

This is the free download, Batman Incorporated suit from Batman Arkham City along with the Mad Hatter Batman mask.

It’s a shame I had to turn off the DX11 settings on Batman Arkham City to make it run totally smooth but I think it still looks pretty decent.

Arkham City is great!

Aight, so I slept for three hours but awoke again just so I could play the PC version of Batman Arkham City. I aim to get some delicious screenshots for you lovely folks. I’m dedicated I tell you. So here’s a small summary of what I reckon.

The visuals?
Are stunning, even Cat Woman is impressed. DX11 enhanced albeit having to turn off the tessellation option because it’s causing problems for everyone apparently. A new feature that does work? who would have guessed. Despite that slight hiccup it’s amazingly rich with detail.

How does it play?
Tight. Just as tight as Arkham Asylum was but with far more freedom. It has more in buckets and is basically a natural evolution for the series. Sometimes playing Asylum I felt claustrophobic but I no longer get this feeling in City. I spent half an hour of joy just gliding around the environment. It’s beautiful.

Combat?
To me feels far more reactive and less methodical than Asylum. It’s faster and this leads to more satisfying skirmishes. Batman doesn’t mess about this time. I’m finding it easier than in Asylum too, and that is probably because I’ve playing Asylum a few times through and I’m used to it. Might have to ramp up the difficulty. I’ve yet to encounter a boss fight, which in my opinion was something of a let down in Asylum. I’ll make a post about those when I get into one.

After only playing about two hours I’m suitably impressed by Arkham City. There have been a few villain cameos already and it’s stocked full of Batman goodness. If you loved Arkham Asylum I don’t see any reason to not be playing it.

Batman Arkham City and Saints Row the Third both have timed demos on Onlive. Now it’s not the best digital outlet by any means but it’s actually pretty decent for demos.

I’ve just played both and I must say I was impressed by them both. I’ve already pre-ordered Batman but now I’m actually considering buying Saints Row too. It has a brilliant opening and I was suprised because I didn’t think much to the previous two games at all. Batman of course, is fucking excellent.
