Did Sega and Gearbox create a false impression of the final quality of Aliens: Colonial Marines? That’s now a legal matter, for lawyers to battlerap about
Had some cracking online games of Company of Heroes 2 beta last night, It’s good to know there is enough new here to be exciting yet it’s not too unfamiliar to lose the magic that this series has always possessed.
I think this game is atrocious btw, the Resident Evil series is officially DEAD.
Wolfenstein from did not make much of a mark on the world when it was initially released in 2009 getting generally mixed reviews. A sequel to the wonderful Return to Castle Wolfenstein, a classic game for many people including myself. According to Activision it did not meet sales expectations and they laid off some employees from the creators Raven Software. Now they have them making Call of Duty DLC. A sad fate for such a creative developer. It’s a shame because it’s not a bad game at all.
Generic WW2 shooter on the surface eventually gives way to more science fiction experimentation and horrific occult scenery, something which was always a strong point of RTCW. Shooting men is adequate enough but once you get some of the more sci-fi weaponry and start encountering otherworldly beasties it turns into far more engaging experience. There are also various powers you acquire from a magical amulet, letting you alter the world around you.
It’s worth your time for the few hours it lasts, I definitely recommend it.
I’ve just sat and played Thomas Was Alone in one whole sitting and whilst the ending has left me with a overwhelming feeling of melancholia, I am pleased to have stayed till the end. A lovely platformer.
Why has the SimCity story gone away? It’s a good question. And the answer for it reveals much about how both the games industry, and the games journalism
EDIT This video has now been removed too.
Elder Scrolls Online leaked footage. If you missed it earlier today, here it is again re-upped.
So the next Batman game is set in Bruce Wayne’s youth though not necessarily an origin story. I’m not sure if it’s directly related to the Arkham games but it’s certainly going to have the same look and feel as those two games.
“We’re not telling the story of batman’s beginning, we’re not telling the story of the beginning of Arkham Asylum, but this is a story of the first time batman meets certain characters that are very important to him and defines the relationships, that really ultimately start to define him.”
It’ll be set during the first few times Batman meets various villains. Not exactly an origin I guess. It’s not being made by Rocksteady Studios either, which could lead to some speculation that they’re making another Arkham game or something completely new.
It’s a shame it’s not constructing Batman from the ground up and instead just pitting him against various villains and while we don’t know anymore yet, I expect it to have more depth than just random fights. I just wish it was a year one inspired game instead.
It doesn’t seem to be clear who owns the rights to No One Lives Forever, which could very well impede a re-release on GOG or other digital platforms.
An article about Bioshock Infinite by the ever amazing Kieron Gillen that definitely mirrors my feelings.
